The weekend's been kind of a whirlwind. Mitch came into town Thursday night, and we've been hanging out, antiquing, bbq'ing, etc. Today, we headed up to Idaho City for him to show me a really cool spot he loved.
So I drove over to his house, and finally took photos of the brilliant yellow mustard seed field that I am tempted to run through like Mary Poppins.
We got into Idaho City, and I got a personal tour. Mitch not only lived in IC at one point, but was also a cop there, so he knows quite a few people that used to live there, etc. He showed me a lot of old buildings I didn't even know were there, and we hit a couple of quaint little antique shops and stuff. Very fun! Then we headed up the mountain.
Turns out the spot he wanted to show me is a spot that Colleen and I geocached at a couple of years ago, and actually left a geocache at the spot. I tried to find it, but apparently, it's gone. :-(
Anyway, the spot is a gorgeous rock outcropping overlooking a beautiful valley. When we got there, there was a turkey vulture flying around, and was soon joined by a buddy (probably a mate). I took a ridiculous amount of photos. Here you go.
The view:

Further up the hill:
I think this one is going in a frame.
Or this one:
Let's not forget the other passengers! Here's Zip:
And Sam:
And back at the rock outcropping, I think this picture matches the one I took a couple of years ago. I'll have to dig it out and compare it, but those yellow flowers look familiar.
And now for some entertainment ... I caught this photo sort of by accident. I thought I missed him entirely.
And then he sat still:
And he had a buddy across the road whose markings weren't nearly as pretty:
Anyway, that's all for now. Mitch is back on the road tomorrow (Monday), and I have a mess to clean up from the chainsaw guy who trimmed up my trees for me. The trees look great, but now I have to get rid of all of the branches and stuff. I'll take some photos of the place tomorrow and post them.
Night all!

Yikes ... catching up ....
Ok ok ... I haven't blogged in a while.
First ... the Jack Knox clinic ... very fun! The Eastern Idaho Stock Dog Association ... what a great group of people ... and an awesome facility! Echo worked well, and we got some much-needed pointers from Jack, so I'll be working on his suggestions. Echo has all of a sudden decided that going to Egypt on her outruns is the preferred method. I need to bring her back to the U.S. and make her think it's her idea. You know ... fix one thing and something else goes wrong. I call it the kaleidoscope effect. Anyway ... photos from the clinic can be found HERE. Check them out ... a few of Mo came out kind of cool.
Monday and Tuesday were pretty uneventful I think, or at least that's what my lame brain is telling me.
Wednesday, Dianne held lessons at Janie's place. I have those photos ... I just haven't finished editing them yet.
Thursday, I went and picked up Bacon boxes from the butcher. 5 total. Split it with Kirk & Janie. Lots of bacon, ham, pork chops, etc. Yummy!
Thursday evening, Mitch pulled in to town. He'll be here until Monday afternoon. It's nice to see him ... haven't seen him in a couple of weeks. He took me out to dinner Thursday night to Applebees. That evening, while we were sitting at dinner, a storm blew through, and holy cow! There was a pond out where we parked! There had to be 4" of water around the truck. So Mitch stepped from the curb on to the front end of the running board of his truck, hugged his wet truck all the way down the running board until he could open the door and get in. I walked down the street and he picked me up from there. What a trip! The rain really came down in a hurry and flooded quite a bit. Cool stuff!
Woke up this morning and made breakfast over at Mitch's. Bacon's bacon and Janie's duck eggs! Woo hoo! Yummy!
Farted around today, hitting some antique stores and such. Looking at trucks. I think I am going to trade my truck in for an older truck. I'd like to get out of the payments I'm paying. While we were at one of the used car lots, two kildeer started flipping out and dancing around. (For those of you who have never seen kildeer in action, they lay their eggs just about any old place. Then, when something threatens their "nest" ... they run away from the nest and throw themselves on the ground, pretending they're injured and showing off their beautiful colors, in hopes of attracting [distracting] the threat into following them, and then when the threat gets close enough to them, they take off, and hopefully the threat has completely forgotten about, or never saw, the nest. Very cool thing ...) I had the camera with me, and took far too many photos of the birds. Reading the birds' flipout dance, you can lead yourself right to the nest. Anyway, here's the photos.
And here are the eggs. In the gravel parking lot, they are easy to miss and step on. They blend right in.
Gee. Was that enough photos of something so ... inane?
