Tick season is upon us, unfortunately. Reports are that this is going to be a very bad tick season due to the continued moisture. In the last two days, I found one on Zip's leg, and one on Echo's head. Since I found a tick on my own head last season, I am attacking this as soon as possible. Ewwwww! I have a full set of the heebie jeebies now.
Yick!
Got a 120lb dog in for a shavedown on Sat. Got the hair off and found tons of ticks. Weird thing is they were all dead, even one very large, very bloated female. Owner says they have not done any tick prevention. I'd sure like to know what killed them! I hate ticks! Haven't seen any on my dogs at all, but I bought 10 guineas anyway just in case.
ReplyDeleteYuck! I found another one on Zip right after I posted this message last night. Kicked everyone off the bed, and tossed and turned for a while. Would love to be able to kill the ticks without putting ridiculous chemicals on them, but that seems to be the only thing that works ... unless, of course, you figure out why the other dog's ticks were dead, and then you need to take it, bottle it, and sell it! You'll be rich!
ReplyDeletePeppermint essential oil works for me, but I don't put it on the dogs, I put it on the tick. Here is a link I found

This one tells how to soak a bandana with essential oils, and also mentions lemongrass oil, which is a really effective and not too expensive essential oil. I buy my oils from Young Living and use them for everything.
I sing off-key. Works EVERY TIME.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the links Shirley. I'm going to do some research.
ReplyDeleteNow Katy, THAT is something I can do! In fact, I think I might start a karaoke tick-popping contest!
