Back from the finals ...

Wow!  What a trip!  Met a lot of new people ... saw a lot of people I haven't seen in years!  We left just after Patrick's run on Sunday.  I was going to write a bunch about what I saw, but I just found a really cool write up by Pearse Ward.

Unfortunately, the battery to my camera wasn't surviving, so I took some photos on Thursday, very few on Friday and none the rest of the time.  Posting them will, unfortunately, have to wait until I move.

Happy tails,

Finals again

Well, the Finals have been amazing thus far. Very well put together, and everything is running very smoothly, or so appears from a spectator point of view. I've taken a few photos and will post them at some point, however, I am having an issue with my battery that I am completely bummed about. It's okay though. Ray Crabtree (the best announcer ever) is letting me use his electricity to keep charging it.

Lots of people. Lots of activity. Great dogs. I can only hope I am ever good enough to be here as a competitor someday.

More later.

Finals Update!

We're here! Finally!

Katy and I arrived in Tulelake this evening, checked into the motel ... and that's it! I have all my camera equipment with me so I hope to catch a few good photos if nothing else.

Hey Barb, if you read this ... or Chloe ... if you catch this ... let Barb know ... I'll call her tomorrow. I got her message a bit late tonight.

Looking forward to seeing the trial field and seeing some faces I haven't seen in quite a while.

Happy tails,
Jodi

A long time ...

This is getting annoying.

The house has not closed yet. Not even close. The contractor has just gotten the ok to start the work that was approved weeks ago. After the work is complete, the lender will do the appraisal, and from then, it will be at least three weeks before it closes. So if I get in there before it snows, I'll be doing good.

In the meantime, my house is still packed. I keep trying to keep it clean, but it's impossible with the dogs and stuff.

I have taken tons of photos, and while I occasionally hit the library (like tonight), I can't post photos from here -- especially in the volume that I usually post photos in.

I added the Cakewrecks blog to my blog list. Check it out. It's hysterical. Don't read it when you're sitting in the library.

Went camping last weekend in Leslie Gulch. What a gorgeous place! The dogs had a great time and it was nice to relax for a bit and forget about life.

Haven't been working the dogs much. Maybe I'll make it over to Janie's one of these days and grab the trailer and head to the desert.

Echo's coat is looking like crap, to put it nicely. It's thin and dull, so I am messing around with a few different foods to see if that helps. We'll see.

Off to peruse a few books to see if I can come up with a name for the new place ... if I ever get it.

I'm sorry, Kiva

Dear Kiva,

I am so sorry ... this is all my fault.  It's a drag that I sold you to someone who will breed you year in and year out without regard to the fact that you don't have a lick of stockdog talent.  But you run fast.  And flyball is where it's at, apparently.  Believe me, cute girl, if I had it to do all over again, things would have been much, much different.

I keep hoping ... somewhere ... someday ... the person I sold you to will find her brains and have you spayed ... for the good of the breed that she claims to care so much about.  Obviously, the regurgitation on the front page of her website about how she works "to maintain the working ability for what the Border Collie is known for" is obviously a load of shit.
